NIALP Areas of Intervention
HEALTH PROMOTION
At NIALP, we believe that health is a fundamental right and that access to it must be culturally sensitive and inclusive.
In recent years, we have supported over 610 women through specialized health counselling for woman and culturally adapted information sessions on maternal health. We worked closely with four Health Centers of the Central Lisbon Health Cluster, facilitating joint activities and ensuring that information reaches those who need it most.
To improve communication and access to healthcare, NIALP has developed three multilingual brochures (in Hindi, Nepali, English, and Bengali), as well as a mobile application in five languages (English, Nepali, Hindi, Bengali, and Urdu) providing practical guidance on COVID-19 prevention and response. We have also delivered awareness sessions for health professionals to encourage more culturally sensitive care.
Building on this experience, NIALP has been selected to implement projects such as “Dá Saúde e Faz Crescer!” (2024–2025) and “Um Passo | One Step” (2025–2026), which strengthen access to healthcare, promote intercultural dialogue, and support the well-being of migrant families. (More details on these can be found in the Current Projects section.)
Through these efforts, NIALP is helping to build healthier, more informed, and more empowered communities.
