INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE

Intercultural dialogue runs through all of NIALP’s activities, but we also promote specific actions that bring cultures together, creating spaces for sharing practices, traditions, and celebrations of Nepalese and South Asian heritage.

Highlights include the Teej Festival, celebrated with the participation of healthcare professionals from partner health units (2022), the Tihar Festival (2022), and the Celebration of the Life of Buddha (2023). In collaboration with the Parish Council of Arroios and Associação Renovar a Mouraria, we have also organized multicultural events that foster exchanges between communities — from gastronomy tastings to the Intercultural Academy (2022).

Recently under the “Healthy Beginnings” project (BIPZIP 2024) we have also promoted cultural events inviting health professionals to join community members for the celebration of the Holi Festival in March 2025 and the Teej in August 2025. (More details on these can be found in the Current Projects section.)

Through these initiatives, NIALP helps to build bridges between cultures, promoting mutual understanding and a sense of shared belonging.
