Who We Are
A Note from the Director
At NIALP, we have always known that integration, dignity, and opportunity are not privileges — they are fundamental rights. As the world continues to face challenges such as forced displacement, economic inequality, and cultural fragmentation, we remain steadfast in our mission: to empower, to value, and to build bridges between communities.
Since our founding in 2019, NIALP has grown from a grassroots initiative into a nationally recognized organization, serving as a reference point for migrants, public institutions, and civil society. Our headquarters, in the heart of Lisbon at Martim Moniz, has become a place of support for thousands of people navigating the challenges of building a new life in Portugal.
Every day, we see the impact of our work — from parents gaining confidence through our Portuguese language courses, to families reunited after long waits; from schools welcoming migrant children with greater empathy, to health awareness initiatives reaching the most vulnerable communities. Our recognition by AIMA and our role in national networks such as CLAIM are proof of the trust we have built.
But our journey is not only about what we have achieved. It is about what lies ahead. The demand for culturally sensitive services, multilingual resources, and truly inclusive education is growing — and we are ready to respond.
None of this would be possible without the strength of our community: our team, our partners, our volunteers, and above all, the people we serve. Your trust fuels our ambition. Your stories inspire every step we take.
Looking to the future, we remain committed to ensuring that every migrant, regardless of origin, feels seen, heard, and valued. In a world too often divided, we will continue to champion dialogue. We will continue to create space for hope, for opportunity, and for a path of shared humanity.
Thank you to all who walk this journey with us.
